What is your favorite part about pottery?: What I truly love about pottery is the variety of possibilities it brings. From functional pieces to more sculptural ones, the mix of three dimensional and two dimensional forms just seems to suit my style and support my exploration in art. There is beauty in being able to let go of some choices that happen in the kiln and understanding (or not) what is happening on a scientific, reactive level.

Tell us about yourself and your pottery journey: I started learning about pottery in college, when I switched from an Equine Science major to an art major. I wanted to expand my skill set and learn about a medium with historical significance. So, I came to pottery. I found that I very much enjoyed the historical context, the learning process, and ways I could further express myself beyond drawing animals. It allowed me to expand my understanding of my own artistic practice. I am always exploring and finding different pottery forms and techniques that bring me joy.
