What is your favorite part about pottery?: I love the having the ability to create something out of mud! It's an incredible experience to be able to shape and mold raw clay into something beautiful and useable. It reminds me of how God is the potter and we are the clay. He molds us, trims off what shouldn't be there, puts us through the fire, puts on the colors that will eventually make us shine, though the colors are not yet manifest until that final journey through the fire again. He makes beautiful things from dust, and He has given me the gift and opportunity to do the same with mud.

Tell us about yourself and your pottery journey: I started my journey into ceramics in 2001. I spent 22 years in an educational setting taking classes from wonderfully gifted and encouraging instructors - I owe it all to them! I went from wheelthrowing to handbuilding and back to wheelthowing (with a little bit of handbuilding) to date. Since 2023, I have a studio on our farm and easy access to create when not busy with other responsibilities. I'm looking forward to teaching my grandchildren my craft so that they can fall in love with ceramics and inherit all that I've built.
